If you have or are looking to recruit a new General Practice Nurse (GPN) and they have limited or no general practice experience the New to practice scheme is ideal.
The New to Practice Fellowship scheme is a programme of support, learning and development supported by national funding available to every newly qualified or new to general practice Nurse. Our Derbyshire programme will meet the needs of newly qualified or new to general practice Nurse and fund them to attend professional development sessions, thereby ensuring a smooth transition into independent practice.
NHS England confirmed this month that two 'current national GP retention schemes' - the GP fellowship and supporting mentors schemes - will cease from 31 March 2024.
We as of yet are unaware of what NHSE have planned to replace the scheme going forward to support newly qualified GPs and Nurses but we hope that they recognise the huge success the scheme has had, over the last few years in particular. We hope that over the coming months we will be provided with further guidance on NHSE’s plans to continue to invest in GP retention and will be able to provide you with an update as soon as possible (Via our monthly newsletter).
We encourage all newly qualified GP’s/ Nurses or new to general practice nurses to sign up to the scheme before the end of March to be able to benefit from the current N2P Scheme.
