NMC Standard for Student Supervision and Assessment (SSSA)

Since 2019 the NMC have updated their Standard for Student Supervision and Assessment (SSSA). Any nurses who completed the training prior to 2019 must have completed an update to stay current with changes and requirements. Training is split into Supervisor and Assessor programmes and to take nursing or nursing associate students and/or apprentices your practice must have at least one SSSA Supervisor and one SSSA Assessor that the student or apprentice has regular access to.

Training

Training is available through us or via a university partner. If you have completed the training through a partner or elsewhere in a previous role please email us a copy of your certificate. It's advised that you complete update training every 3 years.

Supervisor Training

Our Supervisor training can be found through our events calendar and runs every 2 months. Our sessions are normally over teams but we can run them in person if requested. After the session you will need to complete and submit a reflective workbook to showcase what you have learned and be added to our approved Supervisor register.

Assessor Training

Our Assessor training can be found through our events calendar and runs every 2 months. Our sessions are normally over teams but we can run them in person if requested. Once completed it's important to ensure you are familiar with any university portfolio systems you may use and the universities will often host webinars to support you.
